Man Made
It has become more undeniable that the planet is experiencing a profound and rapid change in climate. Weather crises are sweeping the globe altering landscapes, impacting flora, fauna and lifestyles. Storms are becoming more intense and frequent; drought and heat are challenging life forms to adapt, migrate or perish; glaciers are melting; sea levels are rising; 2024 was the warmest year on record.
"Man Made" is a project where I visualize what the world could look like with extreme and accelerating climate disruption. I do this by creating fractured and juxtaposed compositions, use of color alteration, image inversions, thread and stressed paper, to reinforce the unsettling and unpredictable nature of climate change and the "human touch." Although the resulting images could be construed as fantastical, the fact remains that the environment is changing. Unimaginable transformation of and on the planet will no longer be speculative but a rapidly changing reality.
